Is your local school to become an Academy?
A number of schools in our region, primary as well as secondary, are converting to academy status but with their newly won freedom from local authority control come additional responsibilities – not least in relation to their finances.
robinson+co has many years of experience in the education sector and is ideally placed to provide extensive support to schools which have achieved, or are about to achieve, academy status. Specialist partner Jason Spires says "Academies have control over their own finances and will need to have robust accounting systems in place to ensure they are able to exercise proper control over their budgets".
"robinson+co can offer locally based help with the installation of, and training on, appropriate accounting systems as well as ongoing book-keeping, payroll and year end accounts preparation or audit services". Jason, who has a diploma in charity accounting and specialises in helping "not for profit" organisations, went on to say "School governors and teachers will need to know that specialist help is at hand in these areas to enable them to concentrate on what they know best – educating children!" Jason is also able to perform the Responsible Officer role required by the Department for Education.
If you are involved with your local school – as a governor, teacher or parent – and academy status is being considered, why not suggest the school contacts Jason on 01900 603623 or by e-mail at jasonspires@robinsonco.co.uk to see how we can help.
