HMRC attack on Swiss bank accounts
After two “amnesties” on foreign income, H M Revenue & Customs have now announced a deal with Swiss banks – the last bastion of European secrecy and confidentiality.
HMRC is understood to have received details of UK taxpayers who have still not yet declared income from Swiss bank accounts.
Whilst we at robinson+co are sure that our clients are fully compliant, this news, only a week after 5 plumbers have been arrested for tax evasion (click here for full article), is another reminder that HMRC are leaving no stone unturned.
We must reiterate that, although the formal amnesties are over, it is always better to approach H M Revenue Customs before they approach you so if you have any concerns whatsoever about income (or expenditure incorrectly claimed) which has not been declared to H M Revenue & Customs, we would strongly recommend that you contact Victoria Bishop, or the partner you normally deal with, for a private, confidential chat on 01900 603623 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
