Plumbers arrested in raids by Taxman
Back in March 2011 Victoria Bishop, Tax Partner at robinson+co, explained H M Revenue & Customs were holding an “amnesty” for plumbers who had not been declaring some or all of their income. Click here to read the article.
The amnesty formally ended on 31 May and the news that six plumbers have been arrested for tax offences demonstrates the desire of the taxman to come down hard on anyone suspected of avoiding their tax liabilities.
Although the formal amnesty is over it is always better to approach H M Revenue Customs before they approach you so if you have any concerns whatsoever about income (or expenditure incorrectly claimed) which has not been declared to H M Revenue & Customs, we would strongly recommend that you contact Victoria Bishop, or the partner you normally deal with, for a private, confidential chat on 01900 603623 or victoriabishop@robinsonco.co.uk.
