Employer Annual Returns - Online Filing
Fill in employer returns online or face the penalty
New PAYE Regulations mean virtually all employers must file their Employer Annual Return (P35 and P14s) online from the 2009-10 tax year onwards.
Introduced on 13 August 2009, the new rules mean the 2009-10 return is due by 19 May 2010.
The first step to filing on line is to register for HMRC’s PAYE online service.
You will then receive an activation PIN which will come by post.
Jason Spires, Partner at leading West Cumbrian Chartered Accountants and business advisors robinson+co, says: “Please be warned, completing this registration process can take up to seven days. It’s really not a five minute job.
“And, remember, there are financial penalties if you file your annual return late – so please don’t leave registering until the last minute.”
Jason also warned local employers to ensure the many other PAYE end-of-year tasks - such as checking to see whether a balancing payment or refund was required and giving relevant employees a form P60 and form P11D - were carried out on time.
“As leading advisors in this field, robinson+co, who have offices in both Workington and Whitehaven, would be pleased to offer any kind of assistance with this work or any other business matter,” added Jason.
