Annual Tax Summary - NOT a tax demand
The government is starting to deliver on one of its promises as ‘Annual Tax Summaries’ are sent to all taxpayers.
These show how the tax you pay is used by the government.
The issue of these summaries is political, with the Chancellor stating that they are a further example of government transparency. There is an argument, though, that the money used in producing 24 million summaries, and posting them to taxpayers, could be better spent.
It is important to note that these summaries are not a demand for tax and no action is required by you upon receipt. If you decide to bin them, a word of caution though: they will include your national insurance number so please shred or burn them.
