'Phishy' Email Scams - again!
Victoria Bishop, robinson+co’s Tax Partner, is again warning everybody to be aware of scam emails apparently from HM Revenue & Customs.
The fraudsters are particularly busy at this time of year following the 31 January Self Assessment tax return filing deadline and Victoria warns us all to be vigilant.
“HM Revenue & Customs do not contact taxpayers by email,” says Victoria, “and you should ignore any email that says it is from HMRC. Do not open the email and delete it immediately.”
HMRC strongly advises customers to not click on websites, links contained in suspicious emails or open attachments.
If you have reason to believe that you have been the victim of an email scam, report the matter to your bank/card issuer as soon as possible.
